Peter Ullrich, M.D.
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Ullrich is the co-founder of Titan Spine, LLC. His total commitment to patient care and vast surgical experience over the years, lead him to create Titan Spine’s lumbar interbody fusion device called the Endoskeleton® TA in 2003. Dr. Ullrich has a unique vantage point as Titan Spine’s CEO and is able to give significant hands-on leadership to the company because he is currently a practicing orthopedic spine surgeon at the NeuroSpine Center of Wisconsin. He completed a spine fellowship at the University of Utah and an orthopedic surgery residency program at Grand Rapids, and holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School. In addition, Dr. Ullrich is the co-founder of Spine-Health.com which is the most reliable and comprehensive online patient educational spine resource website in the world. He has published numerous articles and is well respected throughout the nation as a leading surgeon.
Kevin W. Gemas
President
Mr. Gemas has over twenty years of executive experience and a proven track record of building professional organizations. He has successfully founded and established three companies from ground zero that grew revenues in excess of 20 million dollars. In 1989 he was named by Xerox Corporation – El Segundo, CA as the Cleanroom & Laboratory Supplier of the Year, in 1999 he was named Entrepreneur of the Year and in 2001 he was named Executive of the Year within the state of Wisconsin. In addition, Mr. Gemas has been a recognized motivational speaker for hundreds of secondary & post-secondary public schools, corporations, foundations, and young people for the past fifteen years. His presentations and programs have been featured in hundreds of television, radio, and newspapers. Mr. Gemas is a graduate of Clemson University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Management and also an athletic scholarship. He was privileged to be a member of both the Block C Letterman Club and 1981 National Championship Football Team.
Steve Cichy
Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Mr. Cichy has twenty-five years of professional experience as a leader in the medical industry. He has held high level executive and management positions within organizations such as Medtronic, Stryker, Oratec, Spine-Tech, and Baxter. He has successfully developed & implemented marketing strategies as well as managed and expanded large sales forces in many geographic regions. He has established an impressive record for meeting and exceeding sales goals and forecasts. Mr. Cichy is extremely knowledgeable in the areas of spine instrumentation and implants. He has been recognized as Manager of the Year in 1998 and again in 2000 by two different organizations. Mr. Cichy is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame where he obtained his bachelor degree in Business Administration. He was a recipient of a four-year athletic scholarship and member of the Notre Dame Football Squad.
Mark E. Berg
Vice President of Operations
Mr. Berg joined Titan Spine in May of 2010 and brings with him over twenty-four years of medical device experience. He has worked in both technical and leadership roles with DePuy, Medtronic Sofamor Danek, and most recently as the Vice President of Manufacturing at Biomet 3i. Mr. Berg has successfully led teams in various capacities including Operations, Global Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering, and Product Development, including early in his engineering career working as an Ortho Technician producing intra-operative custom hips. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Automated Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Business Administration and Management, and an MBA from Indiana Institute of Technology.
Scott Van Ells
Senior Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs Director
Mr. Van Ells joined Titan Spine in September of 2009 with more than 13 years of experience in Quality Systems and more than 7 years of direct experience with FDA compliance in both pharmaceutical and Medical Device manufacturing. He has held positions as a Quality Engineer, Quality systems Auditor, Manager and Regulatory Compliance professional and has international Quality and Regulatory compliance experience. Most recently Mr. Van Ells served as the QE in charge of Regulatory Compliance at Kaysun Corporation and prior to that as the Corporate Quality Auditing manager at Plexus Electronic Assembly. Over the course of his professional experience he has obtained certifications through the American Society for Quality as an Auditor and Biomedical auditor as well as Lead Auditor Certification for both ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 through the RABQSA. Additionally he has presented topics to local groups on Qualities role in global sourcing and at the 2007 ASQ Audit Conference, on process auditing for multiple QMS registrations. Mr. Van Ells graduated in 1993 from UW Oshkosh with a BS in Biology and during his free time enjoys training for and participating in triathlons.
Jennifer M. Schneider
Senior Research & Development Engineer
Ms. Schneider held the position of Senior Research Technician with the Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation Engineering Center (OREC) prior to coming on board with Titan Spine in January 2007. OREC is a partnership between Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin with the mission of providing quality patient care in orthopaedic and rehabilitation medicine through scientific investigation in the areas of orthopaedic biomechanics, biomaterials and histology, human motion analysis, and rehabilitation engineering. Ms. Schneider has three years of hands-on clinical and research experience with the Motion Analysis Laboratory located in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin. In addition, she was accepted into the Les Aspin Center for Government program where she was an intern for the Food & Drug Administration. Ms. Schneider received her Bachelor of Science degree and Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University. She was the recipient of the Gait Lab Fellowship and Haggarty Award full tuition scholarships, and graduated with Honors.
Chad Patterson
Director of Product Development and Operations
Chad Patterson joined Titan Spine in August of 2008 as Director of Product Development and Operations. Mr. Patterson has 20 years of experience in the orthopedic medical device industry. Most recently he served as Product Development Sr. Project Engineer/Manager for Extremities orthopedics at Wright Medical from 2003 until 2007. Mr. Patterson was Director of Engineering Machined Metals from 2001 to 2002, a light manufacturing and arthroscopic product development machine shop, and in positions as Director of Engineering, Product Development and Operations for Sterngold/Impla Med a dental implant and restorative products company from 1991 to 1999. Other significant experiences have been gained through consulting in Design/Engineering, FDA cGMPs and compliance, ISO Design Control and as a consulting Project Manager for numerous individual and company clients in the Medical Device Industry. He was educated in Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Hampshire and holds both a BBA (Summa Cum Laude) and an MBA in Management from American Intercontinental University.
Timothy S Beitzell
Eastern Area Vice President of Sales
Mr. Beitzell brings to Titan over 15 years experience in the medical device industry. Working with companies such as Straumann, Regeneration Technologies, Smith & Nephew, MacroPore Biosurgery, Orthovita, and Life Spine, he has wide breadth of knowledge spanning the areas of Spine, Joints, Biologics, Craniomaxillofacial, Trauma, Cardio Thoracic, and other specialties. During his tenure, Mr. Beitzell has held a variety of positions including Chief Operations Officer, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Vice President of Sales, Area Sales Director, and National Sales Manager. Mr. Beitzell has consistently been involved with new product launches and start up organizations in the establishment of sales channels through direct sales models, distribution, and a variety of hybrid models. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with B.A. in Business Administration.
Andy Bryans
Western Area Vice President, Sales
Andy is joining Titan Spine after nearly 7 years with Synthes Spine. Andy, most recently was Field Specialist Manager for Advanced Non-Fusion Technologies. During his years with Synthes he was consistently in the top ten in Sales in Cervical and Lumbar fixation. Previous to Synthes he worked for Revelocity Corporation as a Sales Manager in managing Healthcare facilities website based management software solutions. Andy resides in Phoenix Arizona.
Mary Belling
Executive Assistant
Ms. Belling has worked in multiple business environments encompassing middle management and executive administration for more than 30 years. Functioning in insurance, scientific and legal settings, she brings experience in management of front office personnel, systems and equipment. Her responsibilities have included accounting with AR, AP, GL and payroll, purchasing, HR and benefits, training, and day to day business operations. Her expertise is in organization, software applications, equipment acquisition and supervision of personnel.

Paul J. Slosar, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Slosar is an Attending Surgeon at San Francisco Spine Institute. Dr. Slosar has been with SpineCare Medical Group since 1997 and is the President of this multi-disciplinary group. He is Co-Director of the Surgical Fellowship training program as well as the Co-Director of Surgical Research. His areas of interest include cervical and lumbar reconstruction, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and internet-based solutions for surgeon collaboration. He has participated in several FDA trials and is involved in new technology assessment. Dr. Slosar has authored over 15 articles in peer-reviewed journals and is an editorial board member for several peer-reviewed journals including Spine. He is on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Spine Surgery and a member of the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
